Korean Folk Village

This last weekend we traveled down to the Korean Folk Village that is right outside of Seoul. It was a very chilly day that turned into a downpour of rain!! But for the little while that we were there, Emma enjoyed it! The village is set up like one right out of the Joseon Dynasty. There is more about it here http://www.lifeinkorea.com/travel2/219 . It even had a little amusement park at the end of the tour. That was Emma's favorite part!!! The picture will all the Korean women around Mason's stroller is what happens when they see us. We get swarmed. On the ride, Emma and Dave are in the Blue balloon. And yes, that is a mechanical dog that Em is riding...only in Korea.

Pics...

Chengdeokgung Palace and Insadong

Sarah and her mother(who is in town visiting) invited me to join them last weekend for a trip into Seoul. A couple of crazy bus and taxi rides later we arrived at Changdeokgung Palace. I really couldn't tell you much about this palace because there were SO many people on our tour group and Sarah and I were being just a tad bit goofy. It is huge and has a secret garden area, I do know that! The picture on the bridge is a 600 yr old stone bridge...nice! I almost fell off. I really liked the corners of the buildings, so I have lots of pics of those. There is a picture of me passing through the Secret Garden gate, oooohhhhh. The King's throne is in there too. I have a picture of "where the magic happened" but it was really dark, so you don't get to see that bed! It looked really hard anyway and there were chairs positioned around it to make sure the marriage was consummated...nice. In the other post is more pics from the palace, me again going through a gate, this time of eternal youth...we'll see how that works out. And, then my favorite place of all...Insadong. So many tea shops, antiques, souvenirs, etc. Anything you want from Korea, it's there! I loved it! I want to go everyday, but Dave won't let me. Boo Dave. Hope you enjoy!

Hmmm...

I'm not sure what to start with. How about some randomness? These are just random Emma and Mason. Emma likes to "help" Mason eat by shoving the Gerber puffs into his mouth, yes I watch her and make sure he doesn't choke. I also tease Mason and call him "one sock Mason" because he always looses just ONE sock, see picture! The other day, Dave and I were doing something on the computer and I went to check on the kids(in the next room)...they were both under the coffee table. Not sure how they BOTH got under there but I had to get a picture! Oh, and the last one is Mason's attempt to eat the baby toast. Thanks Courtney!! :)

Small Update...

I probably should have waited until I wasn't dead tired to update this today, but oh well. Everyone is doing well...Emma is enjoying school and even does the full on bow when she greets her Korean caretakers! I will have video soon. Mason has one tooth that has broke through and is starting to crawl! I say crawl, when it is more he is up on all 4 and rocks back and forth. Dave is working like crazy, as usual. I did go on a Palace tour and found a shopping mecca last weekend, pics soon. We should be going on a family adventure this weekend, as long as Dave is not working...we'll see! I promise the videos and pics soon, just thought I would let everyone know we are still around... :)

Family Fun Weekend...

I know, people are probably thinking we died or something since the blog hasn't been updated. Fortunately we are all still alive and kicking. I wouldn't really say kicking, it was a LONG but fun weekend. Dave had this thing called a 4day weekend where, gasp, he actually had all 4 days off! I know you're thinking I'm making this up, but it's true...he hung out with us ALL weekend! It started with the kids check-ups on Friday. Mason weighed in for 6 months at 18.9 lbs and 26(and something) inches. He is in the 75th % for both weight and height! Way to go Mason!!! He did however get 2 shots and was very sad about that. He is looking more and more like Dave everyday. He is also a BIG Daddy's boy. Dave can't walk into the room and not acknowledge Mason without a big fit being thrown. It's cute, but it sucks when Dave is gone! Apparently, Dave has the magic touch to rocking the little guy to sleep, I don't have it. I get the "I'm going to scream for 10 min before passing out!" routine. Oh well, it's so neat to see them interact. Emma had her 3 year well baby(big girl) exam. She is doing well and developing perfect the pediatrician said. She weighs 31 lbs and is 3 ft 2 in tall! I have some tall kids! Emma did have to get one booster shot, which made her VERY mad at me. Build-A-Bear solved that. That's right, I said Build-A-Bear in Korea!!! After the appointments and a little rest at the hotel, we made our way to Central City Mall in Seoul. It is located beneath the Express Bus Terminal and the JW Marriott Hotel. Emma picked out an Elephant and was in love. McD's was dinner and Krispy Kreme was dessert, Dave found them. It was a long day so we crashed for the night. Saturday, Yongsan was having a Fall Festival so we enjoyed that. They had a parade, booths, food, and jump houses. Mason slept through most of it, and Emma really enjoyed it. Nap time was well received by the kids and Dave and we ended the night with Cold Stone Ice Cream in Itaewon. I tried to do a little shopping, but Dave was walking to fast! Men. Sunday was Osan's Air Power Day. The U.S. Air Force and the ROK Air Force put on a great show! We saw LOTS of friends there and had some great food. It was really loud but the kids seemed to really like watching all the aircraft. We ended our fabulous family fun weekend with dinner at Chili's. It was wonderful as it usually is!! The Build-A-Bear pics will be postponed for a little while as I do not have that camera card here with me right now...soon though, I promise!
